There is nothing more fascinating than watching your offspring come into his
own.  All of the wonderful, exciting, painful and mundane experiences from your
own childhood are there for you to witness; from a distance, and with the
perspective of your years.  There is a common experience in growing up; we have all
had to do it.

       This
group of paintings was inspired by snapshots of my son and his friends.
Using a photograph allow
ed me to see what occurred in the quiet spaces between
all the action.  The compositions  are infinitely varied, the shapes are blocky, and
the colors are primary.  The scenarios in these images
often are activities that are all
but closed off to me now as an adult. In them, I see something more than what the
subjects are experiencing; a new story based on memory and imagination.  It is this
interaction between the image and who I am that is compelling for me.
